Schon die zweite 12" dieser Band, die aus drei Leuten von ORCHID besteht. Mit der ersten konnte ich noch nich so viel anfangen, aber das Teil hier geht mir irgendwie gleich vom ersten Ton an ins Ohr. Mit ORCHID hat das nicht mehr viel zu tun find ich (ausser das krachige), dass iss eher so die noisige Chicago Schiene. Hier und da werden auch auch Saxophon und Trompete eingesetzt. Aufgenommen und produziert hat Steve Revitte, der auch das letzte LAIRS Album gemacht hat. Doch - cooler shit. (b)

Etwas ungewohnter Stuff von DEAD ALIVE. Ne Mischung aus CRYPTOPSY, ASSüCK, DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN und DISCORDANCE AXIS...Sind Ex AVULSION-Leute, die ja schon einiges rausgeschissen ham. Kranker Shit. (b)

"Some of you might remember this band from southern Germany from their split LP with Stagnation's End (which was in fact their former band). On this 12 track album the three-piece has increased their brutal and devastating sound, and the title defini-tely speaks for itself. Dark midtempo HC with desperate, gloomy, and atmospheric parts, yet some furious and grind elements, which got fueled with a lot of aggression and compassion, and which reminds on His Hero is Gone, old Neurosis and the typical Bremer sound of the `90s. Die zweite 7" der vier Boys aus Minneapolis. Punk As Fuck. Ich geb das Mikro an Felix Havoc weiter. "Minneapolis hardcore crust punk at it's most tough and brutal. This band started originally with Chad of Calloused on Drums, Link of Pontious Pilate on bass, Big Rick of Code 13, Rat Bastards, Dead Drunk, Motherfuckers, Impulse Manslaughter etc. on guitar and Andy Hefner on vocals. They recorded a 7" for Sin Fronteras and a split ep with Minneapolis metallic crust core band Provoked. Path of Destruction also toured Europe and the USA with this line up. Andy left and was replaced by Pignose of Assrash on vocals. Since the days of Hell Spawn I've thought Pignose had the most punk as fuck vocal delivery. The main influence here is Poison Idea and when you spin this sucker... " (?)

Jacob von Kick & Punch wollte mir das als etwas wie alte POISON IDEA verkaufen, aber jo, iss jetzt nicht meine erste Assoziation beim Hören, wenn dann so zu King Of Punk/War all the time-Zeiten. Sonst? Hier sind ex STATE OF FEAR Leute mit am Start und etwas von denen iss da auch mit drin, aber weniger Crust/Discharge-style als vielmehr 80iger Jahre US-Hc. Minneapolis Hardcore Punk to the bone anyway hehe. (b)

PEACE OF MIND - Values between 0 and 1 LP (Scene Police) 4.- €
Alter rockiger DC Emo (MARGINAL MAN wird gecovert) trifft spät80iger/frühneunziger Oslo-Sound, hab ich das Gefühl. Ham ja schon ein paar Singles raus, war aber nie so meine Mucke. Schmutzige Klarheit im Sound - trotzdem hardcore-P.u.n.k-rock. Texte kommen mit kurzen Kommentaren. Schönes Cover. Göttingen in the House. (b)

PETROGRAD - NineOneOne LP (Skuld Releases) 6.- €
Für Skuld wohl musikalisch ein ungewöhnlicher Release. PETROPGRAD aus Luxembourg sind ja auch nicht die neuste Band, von daher stufe ich sie mal als bekannt ein. Musikalisch hat sich da nicht viel verändert, gibt also nach wie vor melodischen Emo/Punkrock, nur singt Diff jetzt mehr als er das früher getan hat, wenn ich mich richtig erinnere. Seine Stimme ist jedenfalls noch so cool wie vor 10 Jahren (NO MORE). Zur Platte kommt noch ein A4 Booklet mit nem Artikel von Noam Chromsky "The new war against terror" (wurde noch ins spanische übersetzt, weil die Platte auch noch auf nem spanischen Label rausgekommen ist) und eben den Texten. Sweet. (b)

PHALANX - s/t LP (No Options) 8.- €
"This ten song Lp from Seattle's Phalanx is sure to please those interested in crust or political hardcore. The songs are powerful and angry, but with a distinct sense of melody and raspily sang vocals. The dual guitar approach works well, and the vocal work is good, so what more can you ask for from a record like this? The Lp comes with a nice poster and a booklet filled with art and lyrics." 5/5/2000 ist Nathan (Sänger von Creation is Crucifixion) mit ner Soundperformance. Weniger noisig, als vielmehr atmosphärisch. Gute Background Chillmucke. PIZ URLAUN ist ein brutaler Thrash/Grind Mix, der sich sowohl an alten West Coast Powerviolence Bands orientiert als auch an DISCORDANCE AXIS. Rauher, naturbelassener Sound, den man sich ungefähr so vorstellen kann wie man ihn von der CROSSED OUT 7" kennt. (b)

PLANES MISTAKEN FOR STARS - Fuck With Fire LP (No Idea) 8.- €
Following up their 2 acclaimed eps on Deep Elm, this is the long awaited debut of this Colorado band. Energetic & emotive & unique... though this could fall under the widespread “emo” category, this is not poppy or happy at all, like most of today’s “emo” bands, but rather anguished, passionate, dark, & at times heavier though always melodic & energetic. Scratchy rough vocals and explosive, climatic songs. Hard to explain, but very good nevertheless.

Die erste Fulllength wieder nachgepresst. Jow... Phattest, wie sie grad auffer 2.ten Eurotour wieder bewiesen haben... Was für fiese Riffs zum Teil - geilo! Supersympathische Band. Iss jetzt "leider" nur die brasilianische Pressung, deshalb die Erklärungen nur in portugiesisch. Gibt’s aber auch in englisch auffer Homepage von denen. (b)

Jetzt auch die Cd version erhältlich. Others might promote the band with catchwords like "straight edge", "vegan" or "militant" - while I think there's more to these guys from Sao Paulo, Brazil: The heart at the right spot and backed up political knowledge! The CD version of the SEP vinyl (released on their own label LIBERATION RECORDS and soon in the US on CATALYST) features 7 tracks by the 3 singer fronted band. 5 new ones, a re-recorded older tune and a MDC cover ("Massacred and Dismembered Culture"). The stuff sounds pretty varied compared to the songs off the last CD but as powerful and in your face. (?)

Was ein Stück Dreck, haha... "instinktiv" leg ich Seite 2 zuerst auf und bekomm gleich ne SLAYER Coverversion zu hören ("Mandadorty Suicide" - Hammer). Die eigenen Stücke sind aber auch nicht schlecht.... hab die vorhergehenden Release der Jungs noch nicht gehört, aber das hier kann einiges... England Geballer, DISCHARGE style, MÖTORHEAD iss drin... geil, echt. (b)

PROOF OF EXISTENCE - Scriptual Disaster LP (Putrid Filth Conspiracy) 7.50 €
Gott iss das raw (FRAMTID, DISCLOSE, GLOOM), aber gleichzeitig viel phatter, da die Gitarren nicht so kratzig sind. Der Gesang erinnert an ne Mischung aus ner besseren Version von Lee Dorian zu NAPALM DEATH-Zeiten, Nate von DEVOID OF FAITH/JOHN BROWNS ARMY und Burning Spirits Japcore style. Es singen wohl zwei Typen hier. Soll wohl insgesamt nur 500 Kopien geben und soll wohl auch nicht nachgepresst werden. Asi galore, also reinhauen. Ach so, aus Japan. (b)

Das Teil hier kam mal vor etwas an die zwei Dekaden als Demo raus. Die Jungs aus Finnland spielen guten alten Finnen Hardcore: Schnell und rotzig. (b)

Threatening and (needless to say) awesome. But everybody's talking about them already anyway. It's on Lengua Armada, so you better grab a copy now. One of the best records you'll ever hear. No hype, just the truth. Imagine if Choke (Slap Shot) sang for the Teen Idles. Excellent cover art from Mike Sutfin as well." (?)

2 mal XXX Vegan. PURIFICATION sind aus Rom und klingen hier das erste mal von Sound her auch phatt. Textlich das übliche. Die Engländer UNBORN klingen von den Songsstrukturen, als auch den Soundwaves original wie mitachziger Thrash Metal - geile Scheisse, haha.. Jow... iss ogay mit mir (b)
