Jep - endlich dann auch die Vinylversion der zweiten Full-lenght der süddeutschen Metalschweine. Tech galore, aber im Rahmen, gut gespielt und daher differenziert. Hier noch ein Bastard aus CONVERGE und AT THE GATES hehe. Weisses Vinyl am Start. (b)

FEAST OR FAMINE - Negative Reflections 7" (F.O.F.) 0.90 €
Full on Nietenthrash aus Amiland im Stil japanischer und schwedischer (D-beat) Bands mit dem ein oder anderen kurzen Blastbeat. Erinnert mich stellenweise bissel an CHOREA. (alte Band vom STACK Drummer). Mit Postercover (Septic Death/Pushead rip off). (b)

FETCH - Music prevents you from thinking for yourself MCD (Beniihana Records) 2.- €
Der erste Blick auf die Rückseite vom Booklet verrät, dass die Belgier den Kram bei Menno in den Bunt Studios in Holland aufgenommen haben - SEEIN RED, MAN LIFTING BANNER und diverse andere Bands ham da schon nen guten Sound gezaubert bekommen. Musikalisch fällt mir auf, dass FETCH ähnliche Roots zu haben scheinen wie beispielsweise COMPLETE, fahren aber die Grenzbereiche mehr aus - wenn's metallisch wird, dann wird's auch metallisch, wenn's Emo wird, dann wird auch ganz schön cry baby. Synthetischer Gitarrensound, der ein bisschen an Skandinavien erinnert - vielleicht deshalb auch die leichten Ähnlichkeiten mit COMPLETE hier und da.... Mir ab und an zu Emo im Gesang - ähnlich vielleicht wie z.B. bei NAVIO FORGE, nur der Sänger bekommst halt auch optimal hin. Aber doch ganz gut das Ding. (b)

FIFTH HOUR HERO / GUNMOIL - split LP (No Idea) 5.- €
Neues Split-Release auf No Idea. Die Hälfte der Songs bestreiten Gunmoil mit ihrem stark von Leatherface, Hot Water Music und Jawbreaker beeinflussten Sound. Auf der zweiten erfreuen uns die kanadischen Fifty Hour Hero mit melodisch-eingängigem, emotionalem Punk Rock und männlich/weiblichen Doppelvocals. (sagt zumindestens Green Hell - aber ich glaub die bekommen auch Release Infos vom Label haha). (?)

FINE BEFORE YOU CAME - It all started in Malibugrave LP (Strange Fruit) 3.- €
Band aus Italien, die ich leider schon nach zwei Songs nicht mehr aushalte. Markus war härter: "Italienische Band, die in ihrem Heimatland schon recht bekannt sind, deren guter Ruf aber den Weg über die Alpen, in unsere Breitengrade noch nicht geschafft hat. Moderner Post-HC, der intensiv, mitreißend und voller Leidenschaft dargeboten wird. Die 6 Songs erinnern mich etwas an die Frühphase der verblichenen At The Drive In, als diese noch etwas also noch etwas vertrackter und holpriger zu Werke gingen. Trotz der Affinität besitzt das Album jede Menge Eigenständigkeit und weis zu gefallen. Limitiert auf 500 Stück." (b)

FLOOR - s/t LP (No Idea) 7.- €
Das erste was ich von der Band höre. Mucke ziemlich Heavy, runtergestimmt, der Gesang ist meistens zweistimmig, in ner mittleren Tonlage. Soll wohl früher brachialer gewesen sein. Muss ich mal nach altem Zeug suchen, aber das hier iss auch cool. (b)

FORÇA MACABRA - The traces the machine leaves 7" (DIY) 1.90 €
Raff nicht, warum man denen schreiben muss, damit man ein Booklet mit den Texten bekommt. Naja. 7 Songs gibt’s zu hören, im typischen FM Stil würd ich sagen: Schneller, durch südamerikanische Songstrukturen charakterisierter D-Beat Core mit leichten Thrashmetalanleihen, Hall auffem Gesang, bratziger Sound. Wie immer irgendwie. Knallt. (b)

FORSTELLA FORD - Dismal state of the art LP (Flowerviolence) 5.- €
Heute zum reviewen bekommen. Noch nie was von gehört oder gelesen und doch gibt es immer wieder solche Überraschungsbands, die ohne viel Hype zum Ohrwurm mutieren. Hab' die CD schon 3x hintereinander gehört und FORSTELLA FORD haben wirklich ein Wechselbad aus treibenden RED SCARE-Rockparts, CLIKATAT IKATOWI-Hektik, aber auch ruhigen Parts a la MAXIMILIAN COLBY, wenn sie manche Songs gar schwerfällig beginnen oder "unterbrechen", so richtig spannend und abwechslungsreich. Gesang geschrieen, Texte sehr gut! Möchte ich jetzt gar nicht in irgend ne Schublade packen, passen garantiert in keine rein. Begeisterung !!! (bt)

So.... FORSTELLA FORD waren ja hier grad auf Tour, sind auch recht gut angekommen... Hab jetzt nochmal die Split lp hier reinbekommen.... Ziemlich kraftvoll würd ich sagen, für so Emo-Zeugs. LIFE DETECTING COFFEINS sind auch ganz gut. Bissel theatralisch ab und an - so SHUDDER TO THINK mässig aber nicht ganz so arg, zwei ganz lange Songs, die aber sehr abwechslungsreich komponiert wurden... (b)

FOUR WHEEL DRIVE - debüt 7" (Hometown) 0.50 €
Melodischer Emo HC aus Essen. Drei Songs auf Pfaden von BOYS SET FIRE mit Melodie und Gefühl. Allerdings auch mal mit rockigen Hc parts, die mich etwas an DAG NASTY oder SWIZ erinnern.(r)

FOURTEEN OR FIGHT - s/t 7" (Lengua Armada Discos) 3.- €
Neue Band aus Chicago mit Ex-CHARLES BRONSON und MK ULTRA Leuten, aber da auf der 7" keine Namen der Bandmitglieder genannt werden kann ich jetzt nicht sagen, wer da am Start iss. Internetrecherche ergibt der Basser. Mucke iss, hmm ich würd mal sagen straight forward Hardcore, wie man ihn überwiegend von LENGUA ARMADA "Bands" gewohnt iss mit nem leichten frühachziger Touch. Das Ding iss rotzig aufgenommen und knallt ganz gut. (b)

FRAGMENT - ...answers... CD (Voice Of Life) 1.- €
MoshMetal aus Amiland mit richtigem Hafenarbeitergesang, breiten Gitarrenwänden und soweiterundsofort. Geschockt waren wir, als im ersten Lied voll der Hardrockgesangspart kommt. Insgesamt aber hart. (b)

FREAKS - 77 Points of Hate 7" (625 Thrashcore) 1.90 €
Von denen gibt’s wohl schon ne CD auf nem Label namens MANGROVE, kommen mir aber hier zum ersten Mal unter die Ohren und die sind mal richtig geil. Die Songsturkturen sind auch nicht richtig japanisch, obwohl Max als Referenz ASSFORT angibt (von denen ich zwar selbst 6 Singles hab, aber kein Plan, wie die jetzt klingen haha). Jedenfalls FREAKS hams drauf, hammergeiler Japan Thrash mit dem ein oder anderen coolen WahWah-Solo, das aber nicht nervt, sondern einfach perfekt reinpasst, vor allem weil’s auch nicht so laut gemixt iss. Doch - kann was. (b)

Die neue Lp der Wahl-Portland 4, die ihrem Stil treu bleiben. Eine der druckvollsten Livebands ever. Optimaler Soundtrack für die kalten Wintertage. Coloured Vinyl, wenn ihr schnell seid. (b)

Da ich die FAR Songs schon seit nem jahr auf Tape hab und zu tote gespielt hab, war ich jetzt nicht mehr so überrascht. Fakt iss aber - die Songs sind soundmässig das beste von den Jungs, was die Songs angeht - die rocken natürlich auch wie'd Sau. Leider hat mir der erste Gesang von Brad besser gefallen - der hat seinen Kram noch mal eingesungen-, aber gut, macht den Bock nicht phatt. Macht einiges platt. Die dritte LP "Nightmare" kommt im Oktober - und klingt auch gut - Promo flatterte hier vor ein paar Tagen ins Haus. VICTIMS ballern im Stil ihrer Lp. Hier keine Überraschung, aber die will ich auch nicht. Swedish D-Beat mit Power. Dazu noch ein Pushead cover und gut iss. Rockt. (b)

This 7" contains 4 rocking songs, delivered with a strong punchy bass and spiced-up with an organ... i'm still trying to find some names as references and actually one song strongly reminds me of LES SAVY FAV (as on one of their singles), but the band asked me NOT to compare them to ROBOCOP KRAUS or the OLIVER TWIST, so i won't do this here (even though one of the guys once used to be in the OLIVER TWIST...), and just lately listening to the PANTHERS, i realized that there are differences in the sound, but musically it's in the same vein... And the guys are right now on tour with the american band TRANSISTOR TRANSISTOR so some of you may even be able to check them out live, make up your own ideas and buy the record at one of their shows!" (?)

I've scratched my head for the better part of eighteen years and continue to do so. What makes some hardcore so patently ho-hum while other bands sound like they're, metaphorically sticking a firecracker up a cat's ass so they explosion happens right in front of you, claws are flying every which way, and it's sticky? I still don't know, but Toronto's FUCKED UP kick all of the excitement knobs as far as they'll go. The songs aren't full-out speed blasts and the mid-tempos suit them well. The guitar work pings off itself and the drumming sounds happy among the chaos, so it's not only trammeling and feisty, but the songs are injected with a new sense of urgency....... (?)

"Their 5th official 7". DANCE OF DEATH is their most recent studio recording which includes another two smoking tracks of melodic rock-tuned hardcore punk. FUCKED UP - Epics in minutes CD (Deranged Records) 9.50 €
For those unfamiliar with the band, they have 5 singles out already, a split 7" with HAYMAKER on the way, along with a full length in the not so distant future. They are from Toronto, feature Jonah from CAREER SUICIDE and Mike from RUINATION. A good number of the tracks found on the CD have appeared on vinyl in one shape or another but this features a number of previously unreleased mixes, demo tracks and part of a radio set. The whole project was remastered by boy genious Jon Drew who was responsible for making 'police' so damn devastating in the first place.

Toronto's best-kept secret offers two tracks including their classic 'circling the drain'. Featuring ex-members of RUINATION, FUCKED UP play burly mid-paced hardcore punk with strong growling vocals comparable to those of Negative Approach and Citizen's Arrest. With a heavy emphasis on melody and catchy song writing this offers a good delivery of angst. (?)

Die erste muss ich mir jetzt doch noch mal irgendwie besorgen, wohl nicht richtig hingehört, oder sie iss wirklich lame, aber das Teil hier - Arschgeil. Erinnert mich etwas an THE DETONATORS, kennt wahrscheinlich eh keine Sau mehr. Egal - das hier meint Deranged: "Their second and best ep which includes their song 'Police'. This record only reaffirms the superb song writing and delivery abilities of this young Canadian band. Catchy, powerful straight forward, yet melodic hardcore punk. A fresh combination of mid-tempo growling vocals ala Negative Approach and driving rhythm like Adolescents/Germs. A full-length now in the works." (b)

Das meint Austrinken: "Bei FUNERAL, die letztes Jahr mit der "16 song e.p." 12" ein außerordentlich sauberes Debüt hingelegt haben, spielen unter anderem Mitglieder von TRAGEDY und DEATHREAT mit, aber FUNERAL haben weder was mit Brachialcore der Marke TRAGEDY noch mit DEATHREAT's klassischem old-school Hardcore zu tun - FUNERAL haben sich vielmehr glasklaren DIScore auf die Rückseiten ihrer nietenbesetzten Lederjacken gepinselt. Diese sechs schnellen, kräftigen Smasher hätten wirklich auch auf einer der ersten DISCHARGE 7"es sein können und da ich die nach lockeren 20 Jahren immer noch anbete ist klar, daß ich meine, daß FUNERAL neben RECHARGE, DEATHCHARGE, DISCLOSE und einer weiteren Combo deren Namen ich euch... (?)
